Five Favourites..

01. Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

This book is full of hardships that readers can see in Oliver's life, from poverty to crime. It displays the issue of good versus evil and how individuality is sometimes the only thing a person has. I also found that there is a lesson to be learned from this book which is essentially that, with a good heart, anyone can overcome the toughest problems in life.

02. Running Scared directed by Wayne Kramer

This is one of my favourite movies because it tackles the crimes that people don't particularly see on screen. There's the typical brutal violence, sexuality and drug content, but it also shows the real side of pedofilia and child molesters. It's really disturbing and extremely heartbreaking to watch, but an important factor is that it brings awareness of the real world to the public.

03. Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I like this book because there is so much symbolism. It's also very confusing but worth the read once everything starts to make sense. It's easy to see the imagery and feel the emotions that Piscine or "Richard Parker" endures.


04. A Heatbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers

This is an amazing memoir written about hardships and the cancer-related deaths of Eggers' parents. It's meaningful and extremely touching. It's written in a vibrant prose which has a sense of humour, wittiness and seriousness.


05. Spot the Dog by Eric Hill
Definitely one of the cutest books ever. They were educational and some had good morals to teach younger kids.
